A1 Beginner French

Time: Tuesday 6 p.m. – Hybrid

This will be a traditional class for people who have never learned French (or who have forgotten all they ever knew). The textbook for this class is designed for adult learners.

Book:  Voila (3rd Edition)

Teacher: Anne

Time: Wednesday 5:00 p.m. – In Person

I have always enjoyed teaching beginners, and have done it for more than 20 years at Union Francaise; it is a pleasure to see them progressing. The book used is Learn French the Fast and Fun Way. I have used it for quite a while with excellent results, and the beginners love it. Of course, emphasis will be put on comprehensive learning by reading, speaking and practicing lots of exercises.

A1+ Beginner French

Time: Monday 6:00 p.m. – Zoom

This continuation of a beginner class (A1+) is focused on grasping the basic concepts of French. Many repetitive exercises will be included in order to improve pronunciation. Fundamental verbs necessary for communication (to be, to have, to do, to study . . .) will be emphasized. Online exercises focused on conversation will be used. After a few first lessons, dictation will be done to improve listening and writing skills. Short homework exercises are assigned every week. YouTube videos support the learning process.

Time: Saturday 1:00 p.m. – Zoom

Students in this class have been introduced to the passé composé, the imparfait and the futur proche. They have a reasonably rich vocabulary in the field of traveling, arts, education, food and everyday life. Exercises in grammar will be given, in order to refresh all those concepts. Nevertheless, I try to spend at least half an hour during each class with conversation only, to review vocabulary and grammar.
